About This Camp

What makes a neighborhood a great place to live? In City Lab: Build Your Block, you’ll explore the essentials of urban design and learn how neighborhoods are structured to be vibrant, functional, and welcoming to everyone.

Throughout the week, you’ll dive into what makes communities thrive—like parks, schools, shared spaces, and the people who live there. Through hands-on activities, you’ll design your own ideal neighborhood, complete with creative ideas for bringing people together.

Get ready to dream up community spaces where everyone belongs, and help design the neighborhood of the future!

Campers will learn to:

  • Learn about the key features of successful neighborhoods, including parks, schools, shops, and public spaces.

  • Use a variety of materials and tools to design your own neighborhood layout.

  • Discover what makes neighborhoods thrive, from green spaces and community centers to pedestrian-friendly streets and local amenities.

  • Engage in hands-on projects such as creating model neighborhoods, designing community spaces, and planning for sustainability and accessibility.

At the end of the week, parents and caregivers are invited for a showcase of the campers’ creations!

What to Bring:

  • Campers should bring a water bottle, snacks, and lunch.
