Sustainable Shelter: Dwelling Within The Forces Of Nature

January 18 - April 5, 2015

What can we do to make our dwellings a sustainable part of Earth’s natural environment? Shelter is a universal human need — and a need humans share with other living things. Because buildings consume lots of natural resources (almost half of all energy used in the United States), it is important for us to make them more efficient.

Sustainable Shelter, an exhibition hosted by MODA in 2015, showed visitors how our homes and domestic routines impact the planet. It also demonstrated how design, construction, and technology help us to create homes that function as more effective components of Earth’s natural cycles.

Sustainable Shelter was organized by the Bell Museum of Natural History at the University of Minnesota.
