LIVING WITH NATURE: DIY HOUSE DESIGN
Grades K - 8 | Up to 30 Students
Nature is a mighty force and it has a big impact on where we live and what kind of shelter we need.
In this virtual workshop led by a MODA instructor, students will explore the relationships between house design and forces of nature. We’ll talk about how wind, rain, heat, cold, and other conditions affect our shelter needs. Then, we’ll get busy designing homes that can withstand the extremes of nature.
We’ll create virtual prototypes of the homes we design using Tinkercad, a free Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.Want to schedule this field trip? Please fill out the form by clicking the grey button to the left (or by clicking here), and we’ll get back to you right away!
Please email Leslie Yarborough at education@museumofdesign.org with any questions.

Tackle home design problems related to nature
Become familiar with an easy-to-use and free computer-aided design (CAD) program that they can keep using even after the workshop
Learn how design impacts the homes we live in now and how we can use design to turn ideas into reality
Discuss design careers related to nature and architecture
Become familiar with engineering design processes and design thinking processes
Give and receive constructive feedback
Have fun!
Students will need:
A way to connect virtually via Zoom, Teams, or another platform (MODA can provide this if you cannot)
